Product Description

SCI FLIES TROUT WESTERN CAPE STREAMS

The Scientific Fly Western Cape Streams Fly Pack is a carefully curated 7-piece selection of dry flies and bead-head nymphs designed for the clear, technical mountain streams of the Western Cape. The combination of realistic dry flies, emerger patterns and effective subsurface nymphs gives trout anglers a versatile selection for targeting selective wild trout in clear, structured water.

From delicate mayfly presentations to deeper nymphing through fast runs and slots, this pack provides a balanced selection for changing conditions and feeding behaviour.

Fly Selection

1. Grizzly Klinkhamer – Black

A buoyant emerger pattern designed to sit low in the surface film, closely representing an emerging aquatic insect. Its visibility and flotation make it an excellent choice as the primary dry fly in a dry-dropper setup.

2. Blue Dun – Dun

A classic dry fly designed to imitate small mayfly duns. The subdued Dun colour provides a natural presentation for clear streams where trout can be highly selective.

3. Parachute Cahill

A highly visible parachute-style dry fly with excellent flotation. The parachute design makes it easier to track on the surface and allows it to perform well in riffles, broken water and faster stream sections.

4. PTN – Black – Bead Head

A dark variation of the classic Pheasant Tail Nymph, offering a slim, realistic subsurface profile. The bead head provides additional weight to help the fly reach feeding trout below the surface.

5. GRHE – Natural – Gold Bead

A versatile Gold-Ribbed Hare's Ear nymph with a buggy natural appearance. Its broad aquatic-insect profile makes it an effective searching pattern and a reliable choice for Western Cape stream fishing.

6. Prince Sili Leg – Natural/Red – Bead Head

An attractor-style bead-head nymph incorporating rubber legs and a red accent for additional movement and visual attraction. Particularly useful through faster runs where extra movement can help trigger reaction strikes.

7. Flash Gun – UV/Natural – Bead Head

A modern subsurface pattern incorporating UV-enhanced flash to provide additional attraction without losing its natural presentation. An excellent option for deeper slots, glides and situations where trout need a little extra visual stimulus.
