Product Description
SCI FLIES WET FLIES MAYFLY
Productive Subsurface Mayfly & Attractor Selection
The SCI FLIES WET FLIES MAYFLY is a carefully curated selection of productive subsurface mayfly nymphs and general attractor patterns from ScientificFly. Designed for fishing in rivers and stillwaters, this versatile assortment is well suited to trout, yellowfish, and other freshwater species feeding beneath the surface.
The selection combines proven mayfly imitations with high-visibility attractor patterns and fast-sinking bead-head designs, making it suitable for a wide range of water depths, current speeds, and feeding conditions.
BB (Brass Bead) patterns feature a brass bead that provides additional weight to help the fly sink quickly into the feeding zone while also adding a visual trigger.
Fly Pack Breakdown
1. PTN (BB) – Natural #14
A classic Pheasant Tail Nymph with a brass bead, designed to imitate a wide range of natural olive and brown mayfly nymphs. The #14 size is an excellent choice for standard river presentations and situations where matching naturally occurring mayflies is important.
2. BRHE (BB) – Natural #10
A Brass Bead Hare's Ear Nymph with a buggy, versatile profile. The larger #10 size and bead-head construction make it particularly effective in deeper pools, pocket water, and faster currents, while also making it a useful anchor fly in a multi-nymph rig.
3. PTN Flashback (BB) – Natural #12
A brass-bead Pheasant Tail Nymph incorporating a reflective flashback wing case. The additional flash provides an attractive visual trigger, making this pattern useful in slightly discoloured water, brighter conditions, or whenever fish respond to a little extra flash.
4. PTN Hotspot (BB) – Natural #12
A brass-bead Pheasant Tail Nymph featuring a brightly coloured hotspot collar. The hotspot adds contrast and acts as an attractor element, making this a versatile trigger fly when fish require something more noticeable than a standard natural nymph.
5. Crystal Thorax (BB) – Orange #12
A specialized attractor nymph featuring a flashy crystal-style thorax and brass bead. The Orange colourway provides strong visibility and makes this pattern an excellent option when fish are feeding actively or additional attraction is beneficial.
6. GRHE (Foam) – Black/Orange #10
A Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear variant incorporating a foam back or wing-case element. Its construction provides a more buoyant or slower-sinking presentation than traditional bead-head nymphs, making it useful for fishing just beneath the surface or as a higher fly in a multi-fly setup.
7. Copper John (BB) – Copper #10
A classic wire-bodied nymph featuring a copper-coloured body and brass bead. Its heavy construction allows it to sink quickly, making it particularly effective in fast-flowing water, deeper runs, and situations where getting the fly down to the feeding zone is critical.
